I-T Deptt launches offline application for ITR 1, 4 

The Income Tax Department has introduced the offline application for taxpayers submitting ITR – 1 and four for 2020-21 fiscal 12 months. The offline application is to be had at the e-filing portal and is in keeping with new era “JSON” (JavaScript Object Notation), which is a gentle weight structure for storing information.

The offline application will also be downloaded on computer systems with working device Windows 7 or later variations. 

“This Offline Utility is enabled only for ITR-1 and ITR-4. Other ITRs will be added in the utility in subsequent releases,” the dept stated, whilst liberating the step by step information for its submitting. 

ITR Form 1 (Sahaj) and ITR Form 4 (Sugam) are more practical paperwork that cater to numerous small and medium taxpayers. Sahaj will also be filed by way of a person having source of revenue as much as Rs 50 lakh and who receives source of revenue from wage, one area belongings / different resources (passion and so on).

ITR-4 will also be filed by way of folks, Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) and companies with overall source of revenue as much as Rs 50 lakh and having source of revenue from industry and occupation.

I-T go back filers can import and pre-fill the information from e-filing portal and too can fill the rest information. Since the power to add ITR on the e-filing portal isn’t but enabled, filers can fill and save the offline application.

“Once filing is enabled, you can upload the same at e-filing portal,” the I-T division added. 

Through the offline application, taxpayers shall need to obtain the pre-filled information from the source of revenue tax e-filing portal and import the similar at the new application, which permits customers to edit and save returns, pre-filled information and profile information.

Nangia Andersen India Director Neha Malhotra stated the brand new application is a user-friendly capability for submitting of returns and can manage to pay for higher ease to the taxpayers. 

“The utility itself provides help in the form of FAQs,  guidance notes, circulars and provisions of the law so as to enable hassle-free return filing. The government’s efforts, to build a favourable tax regime for taxpayers cannot be disregarded. Augmenting simplicity and removing impediments will go a long way in increasing compliance and facilitating good governance,” Malhotra added. 

Last week, the I-T division had notified paperwork for submitting tax returns for 2020-21.
