The ministry of civil aviation (MoCA) and directorate basic of civil aviation (DGCA) on Monday granted permission to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B) to ship vaccines the use of drones in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Manipur and Nagaland.
ICMR and IIT-B were given conditional exemption from Drone Rules 2021 for undertaking experimental ‘Beyond Visual Line of Sight’ vaccine supply in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Manipur, and Nagaland as much as a top of three,000 meters the use of drones. IIT-B has won drone use permission for analysis, construction and checking out of drones in its premises.
This exemption to ICMR and IIT-B, topic to the phrases and prerequisites of airspace clearance, can be legitimate for 12 months from the date of approval.
